Jorge Francisco Isidoro Luis Borges Acevedo (born 24 August 1899, Buenos Aires, Argentina – died 14 June 1986, Geneva, Switzerland) was an Argentine short-story writer, poet, essayist and translator. His works, holding a prominent position in world literature are considered to be among the classics of 20th century.
