Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (24 September 1896 – 21 December 1940) was an American short-story writer, essayist, screenwriter and novelist famous for his depictions of the Jazz Age (the 1920s), his most brilliant novel being The Great Gatsby (1925). During his lifetime, Fitzgerald published four novels, four collections of short stories, and 164 short stories. He is regarded as one of the greatest twentieth century writers.
